Season one of the FaithFitBeauty Podcast is finally here. This season’s theme is Shoestring Faith. You’ve probably never heard that term before because I made it up, but you may have heard of a similar concept – “Mustard seed of a faith” from Matthew 17:20, “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” If you’re anything like me, you’ve had things happen in your life to shake and rattle faith in yourself and perhaps even your faith in God. I’ll be exploring the concept of faith as it relates to a short or what may feel like an inadequate amount for survival, let alone optimum health.
When I thought about what I wanted this debut season to be I felt a strong conviction for it to be based on a little self-healing. This is probably because the world could use a whole lot of love and there is a big need to practice continuous self-love and self-care right now due to the pandemic and ongoing civil unrest. I’ve heard a lot of podcasts with inspiring guests on their shows. No doubt I definitely will be bringing on some phenomenal humans in our future episodes but for the bulk of this first season, I really want to take some time for just me, God and his word – in a very therapeutic kind of way.
I created this podcast to be a companion to the FaithFitBeauty blog where Christian women come to me for faith-based fitness challenges and devotionals. If you don’t know me or my story here it is! I started the FaithFitBeauty blog in 2014 to document my health journey and experiences as a Christian Bodybuilder in the NPC Bikini Division. During that time I received a lot of backlash from family and friends for posting my competition pictures on social media. A church friend of mine actually called and asked, “Aren’t you worried about tempting other people’s husbands?” They were unable to receive the message about being good stewards of the body God has given us. Their emphasis was not on the sport, but rather on my body. I can admit, I took a lot of the criticism to heart but found Facebook and YouTube were actually places where I received a great deal of support and community to continue my fitness journey. That inspired my decision to become a Certified Personal Trainer and Transformation Specialist. Fast forward to the relaunch of the blog turned business FaithFitBeauty LLC. I want God to get the glory for all he had done to transform me and my life through his word for both mental and physical strength. That mission is catching like wildfire, resonating with like-minded Christian women that want to draw near to Christ through faith-based fitness programs.
So here’s what you can expect: You can come to this podcast mainly for audio devotionals and Bible Studies, interviews, and talk show episodes where I tell you about my fitness and ministry-related experiences, dish on the details about really yummy recipes I’ve tried (including the failures as I am not exactly an experienced cook), and reviews on products I think will help you in your faith and fitness journey. This podcast is not doing anything you haven’t seen before, but it is my prayer that what I have come to share is impactful and God-inspired, so that you receive messages in ways you haven’t experienced before. I want you to see yourself and the world through a fresh lens each time you press play.
I’ll be bringing you a new episode every Monday. So be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a thing! That’s it! That’s my intro! So head on over to episode one.
